Shri Er. Katung Wahge Honoured with Sant Eshwer Samman 2025

Shri Er. Katung Wahge, founder of DPCCT and a respected elder of the Nyishi community, received the Sant Eshwer Samman 2025 for his work in blending modern education with indigenous wisdom. This honour celebrates his vision, inspiring a new generation to stay connected to Arunachal Pradesh’s rich cultural heritage.

We are proud to share that Shri Er. Katung Wahge, respected elder of the Nyishi community and Founder of the Donyi-Polo Cultural & Charitable Trust (DPCCT), received the Sant Eshwer Samman 2025 on 5th October 2025 in New Delhi. This award recognises his tireless efforts in keeping indigenous values alive through education.

The Sant Eshwer Samman, now in its tenth year, celebrates individuals who have made remarkable contributions to society and culture. The ceremony brought together several distinguished leaders, including Dattatreya Hosabale, General Secretary of the RSS; Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare; Bhupender Yadav, Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change; Bansuri Swaraj, Member of Parliament for New Delhi; Temjen Imna Along, Minister for Tourism and Higher Education in Nagaland; and Manoj Tiwari ‘Mridul’, Member of Parliament for North East Delhi, underscoring the significance of the occasion.

Shri Er. Katung Wahge was recognised for pioneering the DPCCT Gurukul initiative in Arunachal Pradesh, creating a learning model that blends modern academics with native wisdom. His vision inspires a new generation to remain connected to their cultural roots while receiving quality education. This award is not only a personal achievement but a proud moment for the people of Arunachal Pradesh and a celebration of the rich heritage of our indigenous communities.
