FAQS

What is Tribal Gurukul?

Tribal Gurukul is a residential school for tribal children of various tribes such as Nyishi, Galo, Adi, Tagin, Apatani etc. We provide cultural, traditional, and modern education, keeping in mind the holistic development of the children. 

What kind of volunteering opportunities are available?

We have opportunities for teaching, mentoring, sports coaching, arts and crafts, gardening plantation and other activities. You can also help with school administration and events.

What is the duration of volunteering?

Since this is an educational institution with several challenges and limitations, volunteers are expected to stay for a minimum of 1 month to several months.

What are the requirements for volunteering?

Volunteers should be 18+, enthusiastic, and willing to learn and contribute. Embracing the culture and traditions as well as respecting the rules of the institutions is expected.

Do I need to have teaching experience?

Not necessarily, but it's a plus. We'll provide orientation and support.

What kind of living arrangements are provided?

Food and accomodation is provided, volunteers may have to stay in shared accommodations on campus. 

What about food?

We provide simple, nutritious meals. Food that is given to staff and hostel children will be provided to volunteers as well. 

Is there internet access?

Limited internet access is available.

Can I bring my family/spouse?

Please contact us in advance to discuss arrangements.

What kind of activities will I be doing?

Activities vary, but may include teaching, sports, arts, and community engagement.

Will I receive training or orientation?

Yes, we'll provide training and support to ensure your success.

How do I apply?

What are the costs associated with volunteering?

Volunteers cover their own travel and personal expenses.

Can I volunteer during peak school holidays?

Maybe, usually the staff and children go to their respective villages, but still you can choose to volunteer. Please check with us and plan accordingly.

How do I get to the Gurukul?

We'll provide instructions on transportation options once you fill out our registration form and other formalities done.
